Here’s your unemployment update for Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 (10-27-20).

We’ve talked about it many times on the channel, but financial experts and economists continue to warn Americans about the massive cash cliff that we are quickly approaching at the end of the year.

Both the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), which provides unemployment benefits to the gig workers, self employed, etc., and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), which offers an additional 13 weeks of payments, are set to expire at the end of 2020.

Both of these programs have helped million Americans, who are set to go without unemployment benefits once 2021 rolls around.

Stephen Wandner, a labor economist and senior fellow at the National Academy of Social Insurance, stated: “There’s going to be an enormous cliff at the end of the year.”

While I’m still hopeful that another stimulus package could be approved with extended enhanced unemployment benefits, it’s borderline criminal what Congress is making millions of Americans go through to wait for these funds.

Meanwhile, the great state of Hawaii has just announced a much needed extension to unemployment benefits for those living in the Aloha state.

Claimants will receive an additional 13 weeks of unemployment benefits, which makes for a full year of benefits when added to the state’s 26 weeks and the 13 weeks from the PEUC.

This is amazing news, as Hawaii continues to maintain the highest rate of unemployment in the entire country.

DLIR Director Anne Eustaquio explained: “The Extended Benefits program provides a much-needed safety net for Hawaii claimants who have exhausted their current benefits and are still dealing with the long-term effects of unemployment.”

I hope that all of my viewers in Hawaii are able to access these vital unemployment benefits to help weather the rest of this stormy 2020.

Finally, 47 of the 50 states have completed their LWA weekly $300 or $400 unemployment payments, and just 3 remain paying out at the moment, or still awaiting disbursement.

I’m hearing that both my home state of Nevada, as well as Wisconsin are in the middle of handing out their payments, while it hurts me to say that just Alaska is awaiting the payment of their $1,800 6 week stipend.

Michele Evermore, a senior policy analyst at the National Employment Law Project, stated: “The money's been gone for months. Some people are getting a check this week or last week but it accounts for overdue payments. The money coming along now is just paying back long overdue debt.”

Even with these FEMA unemployment benefits, Americans have been without active extended enhanced unemployment benefits since September 5th.

Come on Congress! I know I beg with y’all every day on the channel, but please pass these necessary federal unemployment benefits to keep millions of Americans afloat.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, check to see if you’re eligible and apply today.

Visit your state’s PUA or UI website, provide your employment history, and let them know that you’re currently out of work due to that thing out there.

For your troubles, you could receive a backdated unemployment check for more than $10,000!
