Prime Minister Scott Morrison spruiked the long-awaited completion of the Pacific Highway Upgrade as the most “significant infrastructure project” of the last thirty years and expressed his gratitude to those involved in its completion.

The final 13 kilometre stretch of the road linking Woolgoolga to Ballina was formally completed on Thursday, marking an end of the 30-year project to upgrade the Pacific Highway.

“The Pacific Highway has so many sad stories; tragic terrible stories,” Mr Morrison said.

“It is such a relief to know, for all of us who remember those chilling images and the calls for something to be done, that something has been done, something has gotten done.

“Thirty years of hard work, thirty years of commitment now gets us to this stage where we can join together and say, we got that done.

“This is a very happy day.”
